Liquid Fertilizer: From Drum to Bag — Matching Volume, Gas and Bag Size
The Challenge
The customer produces hundreds of tons per year, originally packed in 20kg plastic drums, wanting to switch to BIB bags to cut packaging and logistics costs.
Two key issues: the microbial inoculant keeps producing gas during storage, which would swell ordinary bags; and bags sized at 20L did not fill properly — the customer said it "works" but the bag visibly did not fit the product.
What We Did
- Recalculated the bag size: density 1.5, 20kg is about 14L in volume, so we switched to a 14L bag instead of the 20L spec.
- Fitted the Qiqi 6 vented cap to handle the gas buildup from the product.
- Matched the outer carton size with a local carton supplier for a proper fit.
The Result
- ✓After sampling, the customer reported "no swelling, no leakage," with visibly better bag fit.
- ✓The customer proactively proposed a new 5KG four-bags-per-carton product — a new need they discovered themselves.
- ✓After the 10,000 old drums were used up, the switch to bags was completed.
