Baijiu is the largest liquor category in the Chinese market: bulk spirits for retail refill stores, kitchen kegs for restaurants, and raw spirits stored at distilleries all move in huge volumes — yet packaging has long stayed with glass and ceramic bottles. One fact is often overlooked: packaging makes up a surprisingly large share of the total cost of a bottle of baijiu. For high-volume bulk spirits and raw liquor businesses, "half the price of a bottle is the bottle itself" is hardly an exaggeration.

Why baijiu needs a barrier bag: evaporation control

The two things baijiu fears most are evaporation (loss of alcohol and aroma) and flavour contamination. The film structure of a bagged-baijiu solution is designed around exactly these two problems. QC’s bulk baijiu BIB bags use a standard metallised structure (PE/VMPET/PE+PE): the metallised layer is dense, blocking oxygen and light while slowing the loss of alcohol and aroma compounds. Sealed construction with valve closure keeps the liquid away from air after dispensing. Large formats (e.g. 25L raw-spirit bags) can add an extra PE layer for stronger physical performance in transit and stacking. For cost-sensitive customers, a transparent-bag option is also available.

Choosing the right size: 5L / 10L / 25L

A 3L BIB box bag (equivalent to four 750ml wine bottles) is also available for retail wine and fruit wine.

An honest boundary

BIB bags shine in bulk, raw-liquor and food-service flows where volume and cost efficiency matter. Premium gifting and collectable baijiu still rely on bottled formats for ritual and brand expression. Bag-in-box is about cutting cost for spirits that flow — not replacing every bottle.

FAQ

Will baijiu evaporate in a bag? — The dense metallised layer of PE/VMPET/PE+PE slows alcohol and aroma loss; sealed construction and self-closing valves limit air contact after dispensing.

How do refill stores dispense from a BIB bag? — 5L/10L bags with valves pour like a tap: dispense on demand, keep the rest sealed.

Who uses 25L raw-spirit bags? — Distilleries for raw-liquor storage and transfer; large capacity cuts per-litre packaging cost, with optional thicker PE for stacking strength.

BIB baijiu vs BIB wine? — 3L wine box bags are retail formats with carton + one-way valve for home/F&B; 5L-25L baijiu bags focus on bulk distribution cost efficiency. Both can use metallised barrier film — wine against oxidation, baijiu against evaporation.
