From August 27 to 29, the 2026 Annual Meeting of the International Seabuckthorn Association (China) Enterprise Committee was successfully convened under the theme “Greening Sandy Land, Boosting Industry, Connecting the World.” The event was hosted by the International Seabuckthorn Association and co‑organized by the Association’s China Enterprise Committee and Inner Mongolia Desert Flower Eco‑Technology Co., Ltd. From harvesting and juicing to aseptic filling, every step affects the quality of sea buckthorn. But after filling, the battle to keep sea buckthorn juice fresh has just begun. Vitamin C degrades rapidly upon contact with oxygen, leading to browning and flavour deterioration. Shelf life largely depends on the oxygen barrier performance of the packaging.

Academic Spotlight on High VC Value – Barrier Performance Is Key

In the academic exchange sessions, experts from Gansu Agricultural University, Lanzhou University, Jiangnan University, and the Chinese Academy of Forestry delivered special reports on topics including the re‑evaluation of acidic components, functional substance research, functional food development, and molecular mechanisms of sea buckthorn.

One of sea buckthorn’s core values is its high vitamin C content—but high VC also means high oxidation risk. While researchers focus on how to “unlock” the value of sea buckthorn, packaging must focus on how to “lock” that value. VC retention rate is a hard metric for product quality.

During the enterprise exchange session, representatives from Hebei Shenxing, Beijing Baoruidi, and Plateau Holy Fruit shared insights on globalisation strategies, Omega‑7 fatty acid research, and current industry outlooks.

As the sea buckthorn industry goes global, longer transit times and more variable temperature‑humidity conditions come into play. Exports to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other regions often face high heat and humidity during ocean shipping—which places higher demands on barrier stability. The Constant Barrier film’s humidity‑resistant performance is ideally suited to such scenarios.

On the evening of 28 August, the 2026 Enterprise Committee members’ meeting was held. On 29 August, delegates visited the Desert Flower Sea Buckthorn Industrial Park in Liuqingdi Village, Changsheng Town, Aohan Banner—a demonstration area where ecological sand control and industrial revitalisation are integrated, with a cumulative investment of over RMB 20 million, covering 2,266 mu of degraded woodland transferred from more than 1,000 rural households.
